Sunrise Neckerchief
"When through the darkness, the morning star rises, he weakly peers into the light that shines golden-bright through the dark and cloudy sky. Weak and exhausted the man raises his hand. His body cold, his skin pale-blue and lined. He feels the sensation of the light on his skin, gentle and warm, like the touch of his loving mother. There he floats on the surface of the ocean, surrounded by a sea of gold. His eyes wide open, he dreams of heaven, a place all stars call home."
I decided to paint a series of artworks as a reflection of my life journey and create a visual depiction of ‘All Star Heaven’. The story of a lost and lonely traveller on a journey of self-discovery, sailing through different seasons and environments. The sails on the boat portray the ‘Eye on the North Star’, a symbol I designed as a reminder to always keep my eyes on what is dear and meaningful to me. May this be my loved ones, my passions and dreams.
